When the going gets tough…

Life isn’t a bed of roses. Really. If it were, there’d be a far less number of thorns. This isn’t to say that life’s always grim and parlous. No. But you can’t deny the fact that most of us have and will face hardships on life.

The thing is that there is no one practical solution to all hardships. They say that when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Why? I like to believe that it’s because in hardships, those who are weaker in will commit deeds that aren’t necessarily going to help them. Those who have a tougher shell and take charge as much as they can ultimately come out of the destitute times. True that such times change us forever, but they also make us more experienced individuals.

In fact, at the time you are going through rough times, you always feel that there is no solution. For many people, such times lead to depression and a feeling of loneliness. That’s the saddest part I feel. There is nothing scarier than feeling alone and that you don’t have anybody. That’s why it’s important to have someone you can trust in. They say that you should only trust yourself as your entire existence lies in your hands. I agree to this statement only a little. I feel that a person must learn to trust others as well. I do trust people, and I’ve had my trust broken but that doesn’t mean I will stop trusting people. I’ll continue to do that because when you trust someone, the connection you make with them is on a wholly different level and makes you a better individual. So, place some trust in someone who you feel deserves it and I promise if the person(s) actually deserves your trust, they’ll never let you down. Even if the other person can’t do anything material, at least you have someone to talk to, someone with whom you can be you.

Life isn’t going to be easy,

But you need to keep going.

The days are not always breezy,

Yet they help you in growing.

The times may be tough right now,

You may think yourself helpless.

But to hardships don’t you bow,

Don’t just sit in distress.

You have the power within you,

An innate ability to go on;

I know baby you’ll get through,

If you set your heart to it, I know you can even face the Armageddon.

In the end, if you are going through some hard times, just know that, this too shall pass. Hard times allow us to see how tough we are and which people actually are our well-wishers. You realise that you are stronger than you thought you were. In the words of Albert Camus, au milieu de l’hiver, j’apprenais enfin qu’il y avait en moi un été invincible”  which means “in the middle of the winter, I found in myself, an invincible summer.” Find the summer in you. XOXO
